WOW.  This is one of my favorite mapping projects yet.

The full projection mapping sequence from the HP ePrint & TRON: Legacy Experience on the the roof of the QEH on London’s Southbank, late Nov/early Dec 2010.

An immersive visual spectacle augmented with snippets from Daft Punk’s soundtrack and orignal sound FX from the film… in no way enhanced by the bitterly cold weather.

Plug your headphones in and turn it up!

This photo gives a good idea of scale - bit.ly/er4BCE Created using 6x18k projectors onto a projection canvass of approx 50m wide by 20m tall. Audio from an 8k D&B sound rig.

NuFormer was invited by an international organization to design and develop a demo of a 3D projection on a building in California, USA. The façade of this modest building turns into a middle-age wall, hiding and showing surrealistic elements. It also turns into an African jungle cabin and later into a US metrostation. Even the whole building flips over! High standard 3D modeling and animation, skillful 2D compositing with eye for detail and supreme mapping. This projection was executed on August 2010. Full production by NuFormer, in corporation with Creative Technology USA.

Architectural Projection Mapping | Abstract Part

NOTA BENE Visual - Pera Palace Hotel, Grand Opening
October the 29th, 2010

Pera Palace Hotel celebrates its opening night and 87th republic day of Turkey within an architectural
video projection mapping show. The project’s concept is based on two parts, abstract and historical,
and all of the visuals are prepared by NOTA BENE Visual. Through the show, spectators can come
across surprisingly to be captivated from colorful gleaming light beams, illusions and abstract effects.

Istanbul resident and Levantine architect Alexander Vallaury designed the hotel in neo-classical,
art nouveau and oriental styles, giving Pera Palace its timeless, refined look.

Pera Palace Hotel, was home to many firsts. Apart from the Ottoman Palaces, it was the first building to have electricity as well as the first electric elevator. British writer Daniel Farson described the elevator in these words: “It is the most beautiful elevator in the world made of cast iron and wood… It ascends like a lady who curtsies. Tourists can not take their eyes off this utterly pretty and aristocrat elevator.” Bathrooms that provided the only running hot water in the city were also privileges exclusive to Pera Palace Hotel guests. Tall spacious rooms lit by magnificent chandeliers were host to many unforgettable tea and dance parties.

Pera Palace Hotel, a significant prominent symbol of Istanbul’s urban culture for over a hundred years, was also witness to many historical events such as World War I, the Occupation of Istanbul, the Turkish War of Independence, the founding of the Turkish Republic and World War II.

I don’t know what to say about this project, but WOW.  Excellent work.

Relative Realities

an intermedia installation by Volkmar Klien,
in co-operation with Thomas Grill

A pendulum swings through a space.
A video screen, constituting its pendulum bob, carves its path through the exhibition space.
It presents - from its ever changing position - a view upon another scenery.
Slowly it passes the tree and the table; and then it returns.
Although freely swaying through space it collides with objects; invisible, but audible.
A computer traces the pendulum’s position and - in a computer model - embeds it into a mathematical world where it collides and interacts with objects. This interaction between the pendulum and its mathematical surroundings provides the source for a three-dimensional soundscape.
Something is forced into motion. Slowly it returns to standstill.
Next time things will behave rather similarly.
Only the world in the computer changes.

Here is one of our own projects.

This guerilla projection mapping project was set up with-in 30 minutes of being on site. To cut through the ambient light from the streetlights, we used a Christie Roadster 20,000 lumen projector powered by a generator. All of the content was custom made for this building in 6 days from start to finish. Thanks to Brian Blessinger for helping to make this project possible.
