‘YEKPARE’ (monolithic) (by nerdworking)

Absolutely Beautiful.  Wow.

  "Yekpare" is a storyteller which narrates the 8500 year story of Istanbul. The story embraces symbols from Pagans to Roman Empire, from Byzantine Empire to Latin Empire, and finally from Ottoman Empire to Istanbul at the present day.

Haydarpaşa Train Station, with its brilliant architectural forms, is the building on which the story is projected. The connection between middle east to west has been provided by Istanbul and Haydarpaşa since 1906. In the 50’s it served as a door for millions of internal emigrants who have triggered the chaos in Istanbul’s dialectical daily life scenes.The project’s conceptual, political and geographical positioning, the location’s depth of field and the fact that the entire show can be watched from Kadıköy coast; make “Yekpare” a dramatic presentation.

The first day of the performance also marks the 47th deathday of Nazım Hikmet Ran, the famous Turkish poet. We started out with a quote from his epic novel, “Human Landscapes from My Country”: “At Haydarpaşa Train Station, in the spring of 1941, it is three o’clock. Sun, exhaustion and rush lay on the stairs…”

Light Rhapsody (by Vivien TESTARD

)

Wow, this is really impressive.  Super sexy.  The following text is from the videos notes.

Hi,
We are two young french directors that decided to create a real time installation and make a video from it.

"Light Rhapsody" is a real time human lighting sculpture. A 3D model has been projected in real time over the real model through a projecting device. It creates a radiant dissemination emanating from her skin.That projection was animated and progress over her entire body until it has reached and invaded her face.

2 days shooting with the model (thanks to you Julia Nana for your patience) and another one for the wild shot of NYC.

We shot with two cameras, a D90 and a 1Dmk4 cause the budget was super tight.

We would like to make some special thanks to our model, Julia Swell and our talented make up artist Cindy Leroux. Thanks to Hsiao-han Lan 筱涵 our magic set photographer !!!

This is an interesting interview with one of the masters of the art of video mapping.  I’m sure this interview will answer some of questions about large scale video mapping projects.  Thanks to Mikael Wehner a.k.a. The Midi Thief for the suggestion.

By: NOTA BENE Visual is a recently born collective visual label which aims to create unique and different ” video projection mapping* ” projects.

Tophane Fountain is located in Tophane, on the European side of Istanbul. It is built by I. Sultan Mahmut in 1732. It is the third biggest fountain of Istanbul and it has the highest walls.

The epigraph belongs to Nafihi and the fountain is called I. Mahmut Han Fountain. It is surrounded by Kilic Ali Pasa Mosque, Nusretiye Mosque and embankments. It is now far from the coast of Marmara Sea, as the sea was filled by the time. Four side of the fountain are the same as each other, architecturally.
